For those of you keeping track of The Crossing progress you will have seen some big strides being made in the build work.
Water main – The works in Canal Walk to re-locate the water main so that the escalator pit can be put in place is now complete. Thames water have completed the works they needed to do to move the water main allowing our contractors to now dig the pit for the base of the escalator. The escalator is being manufactured and will be delivered in June.
Flooring – the new flooring is being laid throughout The Crossing. You can see the grey tiles already laid between Waterstones and House of Fraser. The tiles are two tone grey and are manufactured in Italy.
Windows – Behind the scaffolding the green wall was removed and the cladding taken off both sides of the bridge between The Plaza and The Arcade. The new windows have now been put in place and the scaffolding will soon come down. The light has made a big difference to the area behind the hoarding.
Toilets – the strip out of the old toilets on one side is also now complete so the builders can now start to reconfigure and upgrade them.
Shop fits have been agreed with two more food operators and one is currently underway. We will announce who these brands are soon.
